Minimalism is Always in Fashion
Being a fashion minimalist doesn’t mean depriving yourself from having fun and being able to express yourself through your clothes. If anything, living life this way has allowed me to express even more about what I love and what’s important to me. Being intentional when approaching your style doesn’t mean limiting yourself to simplicity but it does mean challenging yourself to be conscientious on how you spend and also being very clear about your personal aesthetic.
Prioritizing what you love. Being a fashion lover and also wanting to consume in a more minimalist fashion doesn’t mean you can never own more than one of the same thing again but it does mean collecting or indulging only in the parts of your wardrobe that truly bring you joy. If you’re a true lover of high-fashion collabs or you’ve always been a sneakerhead, that's where you should invest and make space while being more strict on areas that strictly serve their purpose. When you give yourself permission to indulge on what you really appreciate you’ll find it easier to collect intentionally and listen to your instinct about where you’re comfortable restricting.
Look at your wardrobe as an archive. Try imagining your closet as a curated collection of your personal style journey. Invest in pieces that feel like you in the moment but also things you can imagine wearing years from now. Oftentimes we shop for our future selves and sometimes we never get there but if we shop for who we are today we can appreciate where our feet are. Doing this also allows us to look back and be grateful for the women we were when we made that purchase and that specific time in our lives.
The beauty of prioritizing your purchasing on the categories you care about and looking at your wardrobe as an archive is you’ll naturally shop for fewer things and put a lot more effort into curation over consumption. When you view much of your closet as works of art or a moment in time, you become more thoughtful about what you’re inviting into your space.
These are just a few ways to recalibrate how you view your wardrobe as someone who wants to become more intentional with their shopping. Stay tuned as we continue to share ways to consume more mindfully and luxurious moments in our lives in fresh ways.
